Which States Have Cell Phone, Texting While Driving Bans?
Saturday, December 3, 2011
North Campus Drive
have ever seen. The Waze Navigational system that I was trying out on
my iPhone sent me in the wrong direction and I ended up on North
Campus Drive, which is about as far up the mountainside that you can
the get. The road looks a lot more like a parking lot than it does a
road. I had been playing in the Utah State Chess Championship
nearby.

FW: Amazon Kindle Fire
From: Robert
If you are already an Amazon Prime subscriber there are a lot of reasons to get a Kindle Fire. Free movie ala Netflix streaming, free 1 month Amazon Prime membership, free "lending library" book every month. Except that I already have 2 tablets already (Nook,HP TouchPad) and only use one of those much, I’d jump on this. Maybe this could make a good Christmas present for my daughter?

Steve Jobs 1955-2011
By most accounts, Steve Jobs was an ass. He was a bully in every respect. It is possible that having a billion dollars made Jobs feel like that he was above the rules that everyone else had to follow.

Re: IOS 5.0.1
IOS 5.0.1 'Good news if you're one of the iOS 5 users who suffers from crippled battery life: Most early reports are showing that iOS 5.0.1 fixes the problem completely.
"Frankly the difference is nothing short of amazing," said Wired reader Donald Kuntzman, who downloaded the update on his Verizon iPhone 4. "To go almost an entire day without a change in the meter reading seems unbelievable. Where before I could almost watch the battery drain, now it doesn't move at all."
Kuntzman noticed that the battery life on his iPhone degraded after the iOS 5 upgrade. He needed to charge his phone once a day, and always worried it would die before he had a chance to recharge it. He could practically "watch the battery drain," but since the update, his battery level doesn't seem to drop at all.'

Steve Jobs: How to live before you die
http://www.ted.com/talks/steve_jobs_how_to_live_before_you_die.html
If you have a slow Internet connection, the way to watch a video like
this, or any other video, is to hit play, pause it, and allow at least
a minute for the progress bar to indicate that the video is mostly
loaded. If your Internet connection is really slow then you might
want to go away for five minutes and cone back.

iMac resolution
I think that 1080P would have been a smart resolution to have, since that is the resolution of most HD movies. That is what I have at work and it looks great on a 25 inch monitor. Instead Apple chose to go with a 1440P resolution, which is twice vertically and horizontally the number of pixels of 720P. It makes everything look too small. As a result, I drop my resolution at home down to 720P.

RE: Monthly phone data usage
How much is just the data portion?
It is a bait in switch, because when AT&T announced that they were doing away with unlimited, Verizon said that they would keep unlimited.
John
From: Robert
Verizon made their announcement today about dropping unlimited data plans.
I currently (T-Mobile) have what they label as “unlimited”, but in reality if I passed 2Gb they would throttle me down to a slower data rate and throughput. Their new data plans also do away with “unlimited” in favor of 2Gb ($80), 5Gb ($90), 10Gb($120), higher data caps for more money.

iPhone 5 in July 2011: five reasons it’s worth the wait, five why it isn’t
"Reception: if you're waiting for the iPhone 5 because you're hoping it won't suffer from the same "antenna issue" that the iPhone 4 did, you're barking up the wrong tree. There is no iPhone 4 antenna issue and never was, despite fraudulent claims to the contrary from certain publications."
Audible
Audible is an Amazon audio book app on my iPhone that comes with some free books. There is a chapter of “Earth” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_(The_Book) which is pretty funny.

PCWorld Multitasking With iOS 4 is Horrible: Apple Blew It
Yes. Apple blew it. I just had to close 41 apps, none of which are
really running in the background anyway. Losing the double click to
get to my phone speed dial really bothers me. Now getting to speed
dial takes way too many steps. I already had a great way of selecting
apps; it is called the menu system, and I make good use of folders so
that I can find things quickly.
